Steve,

(Joel):

If your reading about this speeding ticket Luke got, it was originally reported in the 4th of July Weekend PartII, which Bill separated this portion out of about the speeding ticket.

Also, I mentioned to Bill that I'm a distant cousin, and proud to be related to, to President U.S.Grant, who got a speeding ticket while driving a horse & buggy too fast on a Washington, D.C. street by a police officer. I discovered this in a Presidential Trivia Book. There was nothing else, how much the fine was and if my Cousin paid the fine for the ticket.

I think the police officer was a JERK in giving my cousin a ticket and he should be dismissed from the force for lack of respect for the President of the United States!

Have you ever runned across any information about Pres. Grant's ticket? If not, where would one find this information about? Thought maybe you being a lawyer you came across about this presidential case in your law studies: People vs U.S. President U.S. Grant for Speeding a Horse and Buggy?

(Luke):

Joel should have kept his BIG MOUTH SHUT about this ticket I got.

Will Joel get in trouble because I was driving his car? Will his car insurance go up? It was me who got the ticket, and NOT, Joel!

Wonder how much my car insurance will go up? I have my own insurance, but Bill said with my living at home that my dad and mom's car insurance each will go up?

One good thing about this is, Joel and I have a nice ride home before the police officer stopped me.

Maybe I should have told the officer that Joel and I are members of a high school baseball team that won its second consecutive state title in our division?

Would that have impressed the officer NOT to give me a speeding ticket?

How about if I told the police officer that I'm a good buddy of Joel, who hits great homeruns, and is a born natural when it comes to that, would that have impressed the officer and maybe distracted him from writing me the ticket?

Maybe I should have told the officer, like Joel told me after I got the ticket, that I was INSANE and could plead "insanity" would I get a jury to believe me?

I done this a few times in my life, while I was growing up, and spoke this "Insanity" issue to my dad, just before and as he was turning my bare butt over his knee to paddle me with the "attitude adjuster!"

Unfortuanely, the "insanity" issue didn't work with my dad! He's a smart man! Has to be, he and my mom had me!
