Subject: What's Happening

Hey guys, while waiting for Rick to get home--suppose to get some take out for our supper--thought I'd update on a few things happening.

Last weekend, it was a year since dad scared us with his heart seizure while on the golf course. Doctor says he's doing great now. Had a family dinner together Sunday & then went to Mollie's folk's house for evening dessert & visiting.

Great news for Mollie & I. Her folks told us they are offering us a chance to have our first home. Her dad's company is into property development & have some model homes and he's willing to work with us to choose one & them help us with the financing. Details still to be worked out but sounds great.

Our apartment lease expires June 1 so for time being, Rick & I will move in at mom & dad's again. Give Rick time to find a place & transition for me until July wedding and what Mollie & I will do.

Have been working on a plan to expand our family business for several months & now things look like they might go forward. Plan is to expand space & remodel our office so we can offer financial planning to clients in addition to insurance. Rick was in trust management & financial planning with a trust company before he joined dad & I last year. His old trust company is even interested in looking at partnering with us for our clients. Rick would oversee this operation as well as work in insurance & in time, dad & I might develop more skills in the area too.

Mollie's contract as budget & finance manager with the school district expires August 1. Rather than renew, we want her to join the family business too & use her degree and skills in small business client's financial planning for things like employee benefit plans. Rick would work with individuals & Mollie with business clients in the new venture. Will give her more options & flexibility later for maternity leave in family business.

Well expect Rick soon. Had a client to see after work & then bringing some take-out. Told him to surprise me!

If not time before, talk with you guys this weekend. Not sure if Rick will jot a note too after dinner, but if not, ASAP this week.
