Hi Steve,

I've spent the last couple of days overnight with Joel after I found out, and saw in the locker room, what happened to our buddy.

I'm mad as hell!

I'm glad in a way I wasn't with Joel, I think I might have taken his grandpa on and tried to hurt him, that would be before he might try to hurt me with his damn razor strap!

That was UNCALLED FOR him whipping Joel. Grandpa needs his head examined to think a great grandson he has in Joel would think about using illegal drugs, especially in sports.
You know, he has never seen Joel play basketball and Joel was going to surprise him and grandma to come to the scrimmage game and see Joel do his stuff. I'm glad Joel didn't bring it up and still want to invite them or I would have gotten my ass into trouble after the game with grandpa, and gotten in trouble with coach, etc.

I'm trying to sort this out! I don't know if I can come up with an answer.

I know for now, for awhile, Joel is NOT going to his grandparents' alone or with his parents without me coming along to watch Joel so he doesn't have another "meeting in the barn" again.

I love Joel so much, as a brother and more, that it hurts me to see that he got misused. I'd love to tell his dad, but I think it would cause trouble. Joel is afraid that if his dad knew what his grandpa did that Joel wouldn't get to see him again, let alone his grandma and I know that would kill Joel. His other grandparents don't visit that much because of the long distance they live away.

Steve, you are an outstanding dad that I've come to know about, because of this forum and my judging your great personality of caring, that you would NEVER do anything unjust to your sons in punishment, only if they deserved a spanking for a mistake they made to learn to correct them.

But here Joel, DIDN'T DO ANYTHING to deserve to get his bare ass whipped! He's a CLEAN athlete, has been taught like the rest of us by our parents, the school and coaches NEVER to use illegal drugs, etc. Also, anytime the school or coaches want to, they can test us for illegal use of drugs, so why would Joel's grandpa get it into his head to think and do what he did.

I think grandpa has been reading to many news stories or watching sports channels on TV about athletes abusing drugs to think Joel would be a fool to be like them. If grandpa does, then he doesn't know what a GREAT GRANDSON of an ATHLETE he has to judge Joel like he did.

Sorry Steve, I didn't mean to sound how like I did, but I wanted to share my thoughts!
