ALEXANDER "SANDY" WEBSTER

Peacefully in his sleep at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre March 22, 2017, aged 94 after years of living with Alzheimer's Disease. Sandy's last day was filled with family, hugs, kisses, music, prayers, sing-alongs, poetry by the fireside and together in the garden, spotting a first Robin of Spring. Sandy will always be remembered for his twinkling smile, positive outlook and love for the written and spoken word. Predeceased by his dear wife for over 56 years, Ruth (Fennell) Webster, Sandy was loved by his children, son Bruce, daughter-in-law Sandy, grandchildren Ben and Sarah, daughter Gail, son Craig, daughter-in-law Jennifer and grandchildren Liam and Jeremy. Sandy was predeceased by cherished siblings William, Stewart and Grace and is lovingly remembered by many members of his extended family. A Flying Officer in WWII and graduate of Queen's University, Sandy's acting career exceeded 50 years on radio, television, film and the stage winning multiple awards crowned by the Silver Ticket Award for lifetime achievement in theatre. Sandy advocated for artists, serving as union President of the Actors' Equity, as Director of Equity Showcase, showcasing young talent and as Vice-President of AFC, a charity providing assistance to ill or needy theatre-workers. Sandy joined the Baha'i Faith in his seventies, seeing it as a compelling path to global peace for future generations. Family thanks the excellent K2West staff at the Veterans Centre, as well as Sandy's incredible caregivers, Luz and Annie, for their kind, loving and steadfast care. Visitation is at Pine Hills Visitation Centre at 625 Birchmount Rd., Scarborough, on Friday, March 31st beginning at 9:30 a.m., with funeral at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow. Donations gratefully accepted to the Performing Arts Lodge Toronto, to help provide nursing services to performing arts residents in need. www.etouch.ca
