In reply to: Link 's message, ""Popsicles and Icicles" - The Murmaids" on Friday, March 31, 08:49:11pm

The actual title of the song (and what was supposed to be printed on the record labels) was "Popsicles, Icicles" -- not "Popsicles And Icicles". The B side of the record was a song called "Comedy And Tragedy", and when the order sheet was filled out giving the printers the info that was to be printed on the labels for the records, the person who had filled it out unconsciously and mistakenly added the "And" in the "Popsicles" title, probably because she had the B side title in her mind as well. After the records were pressed, Ruth (owner of Chattahoochee Records) decided to leave the title as it was.

The record is also noted for having four different B sides, but the order/sequence of the releases given through the years in record collectors books and price guides is incorrect. For anyone interested, the correct order of the B sides was as follows:

"Comedy And Tragedy" (vocal) was the FIRST B side, October 1963;

"Bunny Stomp" (instrumental) was the SECOND B side, not the first, November 1963;

"Huntington Flats" (instrumental) was the third B side, quickly replacing "Bunny Stomp" after "Comedy And Tragedy" briefly appeared again in the interim, late November to December 1963 into January 1964.

The last B side was "Blue Dress" (vocal), which some sources currently claim to be the first B side. This was actually the last B side, issued in 1968. Another incarnation of Murmaids had a release on a major label in 1968 (which I don't care to acknowledge), and the Chattahoochee "Popsicles" record was re-released at that time, with "Blue Dress" (an unused track from 1963) as it's B side.
