Buffalo Bills offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio has been taken to the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo after a strange incident with police on Thursday morning.
According to a report in The Buffalo News, an Erie County deputy sheriff found Kouandjio partially clothed in a field near an auto accident. As police approached him, a police source told the News that Kouandjio said, “Shoot me."

A police source told the News that they suspect Kouandjio pulled off the road when he saw flashing lights from police cars and emergency vehicles at the scene of an accident, climbed an electric fence and walked into the field. They found his car abandoned on the side of the road.

"We are aware of the matter involving Cyrus and are carefully monitoring his condition and gathering more information. We don't have all of the details, so we won't have any further comment at this time," the Bills said in a statement.

Kouandjio has played in 25 games with seven starts for the Bills after they drafted him out of Alabama in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft. Ankle injuries have limited his playing time, and he needed surgery after injuring his hip in January of this year. However, he was expected to be back for training camp.
