GOEHNER, Rita Allene Quigley Born: March 31, 1923 in Bell, CA; Passed:
August 25, 2008 in Arroyo Grande, CA. "Rita, a legend in her own time,
left a promising career as a starlet in the prime of her youth to
raise a large and loving family against incredible odds. She returned
to work after her children were grown to join the staff at the
Petroleum Club of Los Angeles. There she became Corporate Secretary
and the first woman ever to serve on the Board of Directors, an
accomplishment she felt was the greatest professional achievement of
her life, despite her early success as an actress in Hollywood. She
will be missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her, and
the experience of her graceful presence."* She is now reunited with
her devoted husband, Arthur J. Goehner; loving brother, Quentin
Quigley; adoring daughter, Judy Sims; and granddaughter, Rita Marie
Goehner, her delight. She is survived by her sister, Juanita Shultz;
daughter, Theresa Goble; sons, Martin, Paul, Andre' and Patrick and
all their devoted spouses; son-in-law, Christopher Sims; 11 loving
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be
held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Calvary Cemetery
located at 4201 Whittier Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90023 / Phone (323)
261-3106 / www.callanan-mortuary.com. Rita requested that in lieu of
adorning black, instead that bright colors be worn in celebration of
her life. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be
made to "Rita's Rainbows" (5355 Davenport Creek Road, San Luis Obispo,
CA 93401 / www.ritasrainbows.org) a non-profit organization in memory
of Rita's granddaughter, dedicated to the cause of helping children in
need. * - Originally prepared by husband Arthur J. Goehner in August
of 1990.
