Jean d'Ormesson died at the age of 92

The writer, philosopher, chronicler and well-known actor, Jean d'Ormesson died on the night of Monday to Tuesday in Neuilly-sur-Seine, in the Paris region at the age of 92 years. The information reached the Métropolitain editorial at 4.30am. She was confirmed by her entourage at 7:30 this morning.

He was born in Paris on June 16, 1925, to a family of state councilors, auditors general of finance, ambassadors of France and parliamentarians, including a chancellor of France and a deputy to the National Convention.

A former student of the École Normale Supérieure, he practiced humor on the television sets, where he was regularly invited, notably to comment on political and cultural news.

Highly educated, he has written books, including highly acclaimed essays that have earned him honors, including the Grand Prix of the French Academy's novel for The Glory of the Empire in 1971, and eight other awards:

He was general director of Figaro from 1974 to 1977 ,. Secretary General, then President of the International Council of Philosophy and Human Sciences at UNESCO.

He was elected to the French Academy on 18 October 1973 the chair of Jules Romains (12 th chair). He was Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor. He often stayed in a wine estate in Lézignan-la-Cèbe, near Pézenas, in the Hérault, where he came to rest and recharge his batteries.

On the private side, Jean d'Ormesson is married to Françoise Béghin, daughter of Ferdinand Béghin, press boss and founder of the Béghin-Say company, since April 2, 1962. The couple has a daughter, Héloïse, born in 1962, today editor. He is grandfather of a granddaughter, Marie-Sarah, born in 1999.

In 2013, Jean d'Ormesson publicly spoke about his bladder cancer. In April 2015, he had been hospitalized as a result of a malaise. Since then, he was treated for this disease. He was carried away that night, after having lived well.
