MOLINA--Jose, the charismatic Spanish born dancer, died on January 5. He was 81. His professional career began as a teenager, performing classical Spanish dance and flamenco across Europe. At 19, he came to the U.S. to appear on The Tonight Show, the first of many appearances on TV. After five years as a soloist in Jose Greco's company, he formed his own troupe in 1961. Jose Molina Bailes Espanoles toured extensively over three decades including engagements at Carnegie Hall and with the Boston Pops. As a coach, choreographer and teacher in later years, he was known for his technical precision, elegance, charm and warmth. He will be deeply missed by the flamenco community.
