Dies at 57

WHEELOCK, James "Jim" Age 57, passed away in an automobile accident on Monday, October 1st, 2018, in Sonoma County. He was born on November 14, 1960 in Guatemala and moved with his family to California in 1972. He graduated from Piedmont High School in 1978 and received a B.A. in Communications from University of California, San Diego in 1983. Jim worked in post-production for television in San Francisco in the 1980s. He was a producer and technical director at One Pass Film and Video, then joined Fleet Street Editorial as a producer and partner. He moved to Los Angeles in 1991, joining computer animation and visual effects company MetroLight Studios as a producer and then vice president. In 1994, he joined L2 Communications as a Visual Effects Supervisor for the feature film "Virtuosity". Jim was President of Click 3X LA until 1999. Having met at One Pass in 1988, Jim married Laura Richards in 1993 and they had two children. They moved from Los Angeles to Sonoma County in 2003. Their marriage ended in 2005. Jim became a frequent and passionate volunteer for the Mary Isaak Homeless Shelter in Petaluma. He was known for his boundless generosity and irreverent humor. An incredibly creative and adventurous soul, Jim had a knack for turning even the most mundane situations into grand adventures and arranging objects that he found into table set pieces. An avid music listener, he enjoyed discovering and sharing music, new and old, with his loved ones. One of his biggest joys in life was going on road trips, a love which he imparted upon his two children by taking them on several wonderful adventures. Jim was a beloved father, son, and brother as well as a friend to many. He was preceded in death by his father, John Wheelock. He is survived by his children, Joe and Jennifer Wheelock; his mother Del Wheelock, and his sisters Kate Wheelock and Mary Goddard.
