Subject: A geriatric doc told me once that ‘severe pain’ is a valid reason for hospital admittance for the elderly. There can be hidden bone breaks and organ issues going on that may not be caught in the ER.

In our case, it was a failing liver but had initially been diagnosed as possible pelvic fracture. As it turned out, it was both. Old age is hell.
