Harry Donovan Jones

Harry Donovan Jones passed away on December 13, 2018 with his beloved partner, Carol Mahon by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eileen and Donovan Jones and his sister, Eileen Cartwright. He leaves his bereaved sisters and brothers, Kathleen McBride (Michael), William Jones, Margaret Jones, Thomas Jones, and Patricia Jones (Allan Davis). Don (Donny to his family) was born on July 11, 1939 in Palo Alto, California. The family moved to Sacramento in the early 1940s, and Don graduated from Grant Union High School in 1957. In the era of American Bandstand, Don hosted his own daily, televised Dance Party, "The Don Jones Show" on a local TV station in Sacramento, before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a television career as both an actor and a cameraman. During his early years in Los Angeles Don served in the Air Force Reserves, and was honorably discharged in 1968. He loved studying the craft of acting and enjoyed playing a variety of small roles in many TV productions. His proudest accomplishments were as a camera operator for four decades of television shows and special events, and the Emmy he was awarded for his work. Don was a consummate "big brother," regaling his family with stories of his TV production adventures and celebrity meetings during his many visits home. He will be remembered as a most gracious and kind soul who will be sadly missed by those whom he loved, and who loved him dearly. These include his nieces and nephews, Jeff Cartwright (Rebecca), Molly Cartwright Baird (Rich), Heidi Pedrazzetti (Bill), Michael Donovan McBride (Nora), and Kelly McBride, all of whom loved his stories, his quick wit, and his abiding good humor. Private services will take place at a later date.
