Another legend, gone. He was the last of Dodgers 1st Fantastic Four of the 1940s -Jackie Robinson, Dan Bankhead, Roy Campanella, and Newcombe, who was the first pitcher to win the Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player, and Cy Young Awards during his career! He was also the first black pitcher to start a World Series game. ...But within a few years, he abused alcohol so severe, that by the mid-1960s, he pawned his World Series ring in order to afford alcohol.
