Michael Paul Hartson, 56, died on Monday, April 1, 2019, surrounded by his sisters and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Michele and Bill, at their home in Tallahassee, Fla. Michael valiantly battled neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer for five months.
Michael lived in Orlando, Fla. He was the son of Brian J. Hartson and Mary Rose Geary Hartson of Canandaigua and graduated from Canandaigua Academy. He went on to Carnegie-Mellon University where he earned a degree in drama.
He was an actor, writer and producer. His latest movie roles included Hidden Figures in 2016; Mississippi Murder in 2017; and Starving Games in 2013. He also appeared in a number of television shows and on stage in Los Angeles and Orlando. His last performance was as Herbie in Gypsy. Michael had lead roles in a number of productions at Orlando parks including Pocahontas, Hunchback, Who Wants to be a Millionaire and Indian Jones.
Michael was a partner in Resurgence Films, as well as a founding member of the Onstage Theater Company in Los Angeles. Michael was a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan who treasured his box of Flutie Flakes.
Michael embodied the qualities of acceptance, loyalty, strength, humor and compassion. His charismatic, giving spirit touched the lives of so many. He will be greatly missed. Mike will forever remain the heart and soul of his family and the friends who became his family.
Michael was the youngest of six siblings and he is survived by his brothers and sisters, Kathleen Milton, Michele (Bill Wilson) Hartson, BJ (Ilene) Hartson, Sean (Barb) Hartson and Roxanne (Todd) Barnes; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and close friends.
Michael was predeceased by his mother, Mary Rose Hartson; father, Brian J. Hartson; and nephew, Paul Michael Milton.
Memorial services will be held in Orlando and Canandaigua at the convenience of the family.
