The late designer’s work was featured in the 80s film ‘Full Moon in Paris’ by Éric Rohmer.

Corinne Cobson, a French fashion designer who created her eponymous ready-to-wear collection in 1987, has died at 62.

The news was confirmed by her husband Tanguy Loyzance in a statement from the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode.

The designer got her start while apprenticing at Dorothée Bis (a Parisian fashion label launched by her parents Jacqueline and Elie Jacobson). It was during this time that Cobson acquired the skills to create her own line.

Often mixing textiles such as cotton, linen and leather for rock ‘n’ roll inspired ensembles, Cobson’s work was worn by musician Vanessa Paradis who donned a spaghetti-strap gown at the Cannes Film Festival in 1995 while honoring actress Jeanne Moreau with a performance.

The late designer is also known for working in the film industry after creating costumes for Pascale Ogier who starred in Éric Rohmer’s Full Moon in Paris
.
In her later years, Cobson continued her design pursuits with a focus on interiors.

Rock Your Home by Corrine Cobson (a collection of benches, armchairs, chaise lounges and sofas) was inspired by music, her travels, and the homes of her close friends.
Her website described Corinne as: “Unpredictable, she likes nothing so much as to surprise. A woman of images, photography and cinema have always nourished her imagination...”
