In reply to: Russ 's message, "Sorry it really annoys me that all of the obit headlines call him a "Red Sox" icon or legend. He played 7 seasons for the Cubs winning a batting title, and 8 for the Dodgers. How do the Red Sox own him at 3+ seasons?" on Tuesday, May 28, 03:45:53am

Calvin Schiraldi had a two-run lead and put the tying run in scoring position, which was followed by Bob Stanley's wild pitch that tied the game. When's the last time you ever heard those two guys get blamed?

I remember being nauseous a few decades later when those magnanimous Red Sox fans decided to "forgive" Buckner because they had won two WS titles. He was a good sport about it, but I would have told them to go f themselves.
