"Shark Tank" star Kevin O'Leary was on a boat that was involved in a fatal crash over the weekend.

In a statement provided to USA TODAY Wednesday by representative Nancy Cheung, the Canadian businessman confirmed that he was at the scene of the accident at Lake Joseph in Ontario, Canada.

"On late Saturday night I was a passenger in a boat that was involved in a tragic collision with another watercraft that had no navigation lights on and then fled the scene," his statement read. "I am fully cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation."

Ontario Provincial Police's media relations coordinator Carolle Dionne said a 64-year-old Florida man died instantly after the collision and a 48-year-old Canadian woman was injured and sent to the hospital, where she later died. Police are continuing to investigate.

O'Leary's statement continued, "Out of respect for the victims families and to fully support the ongoing investigation I feel it is inappropriate to make further comments at this time. My heartfelt prayers and condolences to the victims, the families and those affected by this loss."
