John Spencer from TV's "The West Wing", died of a heart attack in a Los Angeles hospital on December 16, 2005, four days before his 59th birthday. At the time of his death, Spencer had filmed two of the five West Wing episodes that were in post-production: "Running Mates" and "The Cold".

Yes, art sadly imitated life for John in the end. Oddly, John Spencer's 'Leo McGarry' character in TV's "West Wing" suffered a near-fatal heart attack in season 6, which aired October 2004. Spencer himself died in December 2005. His TV character 'McGarry' died of fatal heart attack on Election Night episode, which aired April 2006. (NT)On the memorable episode Spencer's character 'Leo McGarry' died on U.S. Presidential Election Night, as Vice President candidate ticket on the ballot.Tuesday, September 17, 02:53:51pm
