Col. Tom C. “Ike” Morris ’33, the oldest known Aggie, passed away peacefully Sunday in San Antonio. He was 109.

He was senior class president at A&M and chaired the 1932 student committee that first set requirements for seniors to earn the Aggie Ring. That committee also was first to standardize the design of the ring.

Three years ago, he established an Aggie Ring Scholarship that pays for at least one student’s Aggie Ring every year.

In July as his 109th birthday approached, The Association put out a call for birthday cards. Aggies mailed him more than 400 cards to celebrate.

Morris, a World War II veteran, had his lost Aggie Ring replaced at age 102.

Visitation will be held Tuesday and services on Wednesday in Waxahachie. Memorials can be sent to The Association of Former Students, Tom C. “Ike” Morris Memorial, 505 George Bush Drive, College Station, Texas 77840; or to Ellis County Veterans Ceremony, 2001 US-287, Waxahachie, Texas 75165.
