Katreese Darcene Barnes, 3rd January 1963, Fort Carson, Colorado, U.S.A.

d. 3rd August 2019, Manhattan, New York, U.S.A.

The multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer and music producer, Katreese Barnes, has died. She was 56.

Katreese passed away in August from breast cancer, which she had fought for the past 20 years.

Katreese Darcene Barnes was born in Fort Carson, Colorado, on the 3rd of January 1963.

Along with her brother, she will be best remembered for being one half of the duo, Juicy, in the early 80’s.

Juicy released three albums, with the most successful album being ‘It Takes Two’ in 1985.

The album featured the songs ‘Sugar Free’, which rose to No. 32 on the Billboard R&B singles chart, and ‘Nobody but You’.

Jerry and Katreese moved to New York in 1988 and established themselves on the music scene largely thanks to their work with Roberta Flack. They co-produced most of her 1994 album, ‘Roberta’, which was nominated for a Grammy.

This resume is a couple of months overdue. my apologies. Only just heard we lost this fine artist.
