Subject: It's based on personal observation. I've listened to oldies stations for years, and don't recall ever hearing one of his records

Much like "Dominique" by the Singing Nun. A huge hit in it's day, but never heard today. You're right about the songs getting play time being based on a corporate algorithm. They play the hell out of the Motown hits and exclude so many of the other hits of the day. These songs are practically forgotten and now people only want to hear the ones they are "familiar" with.

I only know Jack Scott's songs because I collect records and have played them. He was a bit before my time.
