Subject: He was bipolar. And the talk in his fan community has revealed some information that might lead to why he did what he did.

Speculation only, so don't take it as fact.

In reply to: But mental health battles are real -RIP. 's message, "With millions and millions of views over the years, and working out of his home making $$ for these YuTube view$, it's a wonder why he killed himself. Unless he finally went batty with all these damned cats! ..." on Saturday, April 18, 12:35:45pm

Per conversations amongst people in the community he was friends with, he had been struggling with two things, on top of his mental health issues.

1.) New YouTube regulations meant that most of his previously published videos were no longer earning him money. These videos--because they contain profanity--were what is known as "demonetized," meaning the revenue stream was taken away until he fixed the problems of the profanity. Which, of course, was a large part of the humor of his beloved Sylvester. If you watch some of the later videos, he's censoring things, but the humor value is lost. Upsettingly, while his videos might be demonetized, YouTube continues to make money from them.

2.) The reality is that both Sylvester and his dog Shelby are/were in their teens. The dog had gone both blind and deaf; the last few videos of her were heartbreaking to watch. Sylvester, too, was starting to show signs of aging. Teeth gone, hair graying, getting older, slowing down. It's quite possible in the time since the last video was made (which was October, I believe, but not posted until December 30th) that either or both have passed away. When the previous animal passed away, it was a few months before he told the world in a video.

Whatever the case may be, it's tragic. His wife is working on a video to discuss what happened and will post it in the weeks to come.

Either way, this would make one whacky screenplay. (NT)Considering the TIGER KING B.S. on Netflix, the YouTube underbelly sub-culture of characters would be freaky fan fodder for a docufilm, too.Saturday, April 18, 03:24:54pm
