Subject: Reminds me of the late Rolf Karl WŁtherich (1927-1981), German engineer and racer who was with friend James Dean in Dean's fatal 1955 car crash. WŁtherich survived the crash with a double fractured jaw and serious hip and femur injuries, troubling him throughout his life. ...

For years, depression and alcoholism followed WŁtherich, culminating in conviction of attempted murder of his wife. In 1981, a drunk WŁtherich was killed in single car accident.
