In Memory of
JUDD MASLANSKY
JULY 23, 1959 - APRIL 23, 2020

JUDD HERMAN MASLANSKY died in Los Angeles, California, on April 23, 2020, after a long fight with esophageal and brain cancer.

A man widely admired for his humor and zest for life, his love of animals and music, the Bossa Nova was his go-to groove. Judd had an undeniable talent for friendship, and a strong commitment to see the best part of those around him. Judd died surrounded by family, perpetually youthful at the age of 60.

Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, July 23, 1959, to Dr. Robert Maslansky and Carolyn (Phillips) Maslansky, the well-loved youngest of three children. His father, a doctor at Mt. Sinai hospital, attended the birth, in scrubs. Judd was raised in Minneapolis, graduating from Breck School and from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a degree in Film Production.

His career in film, largely in editing, took him to Hollywood, where he worked on countless films and television programs over thirty years until illness incapacitated him in mid-2019.

Preceded in death by his parents, beloved as a brother, father, husband, uncle, cousin, friend, and partner, Judd is survived by his children, Cole Maslansky, Jared Maslansky, and Chloe Maslansky; siblings Stephanie Maslansky Rubin and Jon Maslansky; brother-in-law Joshua Rubin and sister-in-law Helena Maslansky; former wife and mother to his children, Debra Manwiller; life-partner Caroline Green; nephews Robert Maslansky, Julian Rubin, and Lucas Rubin; uncles Paul Maslansky and Felix Phillips; aunts Ann Phillips and Marysa Maslansky; and cousins Sasha, Sabina, Sam, Max, and Alex Maslansky, and Diana, Michael, and Arthur Phillips.

His adored dogs, Callie and Wrigley, the latest of many animals rescued and given good lives by Judd, were with him at the end.

The family asks that donations be made to American Cancer Society.
