Kentucky football team tied to 36 coronavirus cases after workout lacked proper safety measures
By Jesse Reed - July 17, 2020

On Friday, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear shared that a football team in the state has been linked to 36 individual cases of coronavirus.

Workout in weight room by football team infected 36 people in Kentucky
During a press conference in which Gov. Beshear announced 531 new positive COVID-19 cases in his state, he shared how one workout that lacked proper safety measures infected 36 people.

All told, 18 players, three coaches, and 15 family members tested positive for COVID-19, per Eli Gehn of lex18.com. Players did not wear masks or distance properly, leading to the outbreak.

IM NOT GOING TO MENTION THE SCHOOL ITSELF BECAUSE IT COULD BE MULTIPLE DIFFERENT ONES AT A TIME BUT I ALSO DONT WANT PEOPLE TO FEEL PUNISHED FOR DOING THE TESTING AND THEN ACTUALLY TAKING THE STEPS AND LEARNING ABOUT IT TO EDUCATE OTHERS, SAID GOV. BESHEAR. BUT IT SAYS THAT WE NEED TO BE NERVOUS RIGHT NOW ABOUT SPORTS. IF WE WEAR MASKS, IF WE SOCIALLY DISTANCE, AND I THINK WE HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THEM.

Other states are having a much more difficult time containing the coronavirus right now than Kentucky. This has put sports this fall in jeopardy. In fact, on Thursday NCAA President Mark Emmert suggested college football is in doubt due to the current trends in the United States.
