Maurice Elsworth Petty, age 81, of Randleman died peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 25, 2020.

Mr. Petty was born March 27, 1939 the son of Lee and Elizabeth Toomes Petty.

Maurice was a native of Level Cross, NC, and a 1957 Randleman High School graduate. He then went to King's College in Greensboro before beginning his NASCAR Career. He was part-owner of Petty Enterprises, along with his father and brother and is a NASCAR Hall of Fame Inductee. He was a master engine builder. After his retirement in 1983, he enjoyed traveling to Holden Beach with Mama Trish and other family. He also enjoyed time in Las Vegas, NV and Cherokee, NC. In addition to his parents, Maurice is preceded in death, in 2014, by the love of his life and wife of 52 years, Patricia Harris Petty. Maurice will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by one daughter: Elizabeth Kratzenberg and three sons: Ritchie (Teresa) Petty, Mark (Sherry) Petty and Timmy (Connie) Petty; grandchildren: Ory (Rachael) Petty; Ashlynn (Jackson) Hayes; Judson Petty, Rylie Petty, Baylor Petty, Ramsey Petty, Katherine Ann Petty, Audra Petty, Brenden Kratzenberg, Rachel Kratzenberg; one great-grandchild: Everette Dawn Petty; and one brother: Richard Petty.

A Private Service Will Be Held At A Later Date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice Of Randolph, 416 Vision Dr., Asheboro, NC 27203, www.hospiceofrandolph.org; Crohn's and Colitis Foundation 1100 S.
