March 6, 1967 - December 31, 2020 Sherrie Wills died peacefully at home on the morning of December 31, 2020. Her body already weakened from a years-long battle with early-onset dementia, Sherrie's exposure to COVID-19 seems to have triggered a rapid decline. She passed in comfort, at home, with loved ones at her side.Born March 6, 1967, in Washington, DC, Sherrie spent most of her youth in Northern Virginia. Her family relocated to Los Angeles for a few years, where Sherrie attended the Buckley School and began working as a child actress. The family later returned to Annandale, Virginia where she finished middle school and graduated from Annandale High School in 1985.Sherrie's great passions in life were acting, traveling, and animals. Sherrie started her acting career as a child in the seventies. A favorite client of the legendary agent Iris Burton, Sherrie had a contract at Paramount and made multiple television appearances until her father's ill health forced the family to return to Virginia. At the age of sixteen, she spent the summer in London studying acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. Sherrie continued her studies in drama, receiving a BFA from USC. She also studied with the legendary actress and teacher, Nina Foch, and took one of the last workshops offered by the great Sanford Meisner. After college, she continued to work in television as well as appearing in feature films such as Heathers and The Exorcist III. She stepped away from acting in her late twenties. At the age of 17, Sherrie flew to Tokyo to visit an old school friend who had moved away. Her experiences in Japan, along with her summer in London, inspired a passion for international travel that took Sherrie all over Europe. Sherrie included her love of animals (she rescued many, many dogs) in her travels, taking a safari in South Africa and traveling to Canada to see the polar bears.Sherrie got her intensity and drive from her father, a successful entrepreneur. She got her creativity from her mother, a composer who produced two musicals. Having lost her brother in 1998, her father in 1999, and her mother in 2013, Sherrie was the last living member of her immediate family, Those who knew Sherrie will remember her for her dedication to the craft of acting, her tremendous energy, her passion for animals, and her great laugh.Sherrie is survived by her cousins Gordon and Regina Wills, and her partner, Mark Kassai, who stood by her during her seven-year struggle with dementia. In lieu of flowers, we encourage donations to the California Wildlife Center (cawildlife.org) one of Sherrie's favorite animal charities.
