Those were hand smacks with me hauled across the seated lap and my little britches pulled down to undies or bare bottom. By 8/9 I was getting too big I guess for the lap so dad would prop his leg on chair seat & just lean me over his leg standing. By then he had made his own wood paddle w/ a few holes drilled to tan my butt. That stopped around 12/13 when it was bend over chair/desk/bed edge for his belt to give the lesson.
