I guess I should say that grandpa had spanked (and belted) my butt before I was 13. He watched me after school when I was young so if there was trouble at school or I gave him trouble he took care of business. After puberty started I think mom just decided a man should be the one punishing a boy. Grandpa used his hand when I was little and belt from about age 10.

Was it just age that provoke grandpa to move from hand to belt when you were 10 or had you done something more serious that he felt deserved a whipping rather than spanking? How far into teen years did he give the whippings?

You mentioned 'trouble in school' as cause for grandpa to spank you. Was school authorized to paddle you & other students or was discipline dealt with my a note/call home so parents could do the punishing?

I got my first belting from grandpa for taking my dirt bike out without supervision. He said that earned me the belt over a spanking. 2. Last one was when I was 15. 3. My school did not paddle.
