 It was definitely not just a threat. Fortunately it was usually out of sight of others, but we learned quick that it was a warning that if we kept up what we were doing (usually reserved for something that would distract the driver), we'd get tanned and good.

This was threatened more than it happened but it still occurred quite often. Eventually, I learned to do what my parent's told me and keep my hands to myself. Once I learned to not get drawn into my younger brothers squabbles I avoided this event more often. Being a spectator was much better than being a participant!
