2011 - Chelsea Lee Ray - aged out (competed in NJ before)
2010 - Steffi Holmes - 2nd RU in 2011, 4th RU in 2012
2009 - Carly Economos - 2nd RU in 2010
2008 - Julia Fuller - 4th RU in 2009
2007 - Bliss Soucek - stopped competing
2006 - Amber Knight - stopped competing/aged out?
2005 - Katie Wolf - aged out
2004 - Katie Wolf - 1st RU again in 2005
2003 - Linda Kurtz - WON MISS DE 2004

**2003 and 2004 were the last years when the first runner-up when on to win Miss Delaware (Erin W. and Linda).

**looks like you are better off being the 4th RU the year before (Rebecca, Alyssa, Heather and Galen). So maybe next year will be Tori's time.

I love Becky's success. A non-finalist two years, took a year off, came back and won! That was an exciting night too! So unexpected and suspenseful.

I think people (ad the atual first runnr up that comes back to compete the following year) automatically assume it's a guaranteed win.Some come back with ttitudes and that shows and kills their chances at winning. There have been several years where I scratched my head at the first runner ups. Different years with different judges. It's all so subjective. Past contestant 08:10:59 07/06/13 Sat

This is a neat observation. 2004/2005 is about the time they started the ballot I believe, so it would make sense that the r/u positioning within the top 5 is a bit arbitrary lately. I also attribute the teen program feeding new women into the miss division almost annually, which can throw results off year-to-year. I personally love it as it makes everything more suspenseful, although I do feel for the 1st r/u who feels that pressure or fear of 'the curse'! Fmd 09:42:56 07/06/13 Sat
