When I was 16 I was chosen to go to a scout leadership camp. There were around 30 of us ages 14, 15 and 16. It was an Indian theme and we spent a lot of time swimming and we spent a lot of time naked and got all over tans.
Saturday was family day and that was attended by some 100 or more, dads, moms, brothers and sisters. At one point the 8 of us who were 16 took part in a manhood ceremony. We took off our clothes and wrapped ourselves in large Indian blankets that covered us completely. Then all 8 of walked out and stood in front of the whole group. The camp leader announced that the blanket symbolized the comfort of youth that we had to leave behind so he told us to remove our blankets. I could see the shocked look on the girls faces and the smiles that followed. As we stood their naked in front of everyone he announced that just as we are born naked we enter manhood naked. The we had to face the crowd and raise our arms to welcome our entering manhood then turn and face the other direction and raise our arms symbolizing remain strong til death. We stood naked and the men walk by and patted us on the shoulder to recognize us as men, then the mothers walked by and patted our chest to recognize that mother's would always be in our hearts. Last of all the girls walked by to examine us and declare us men. It was quite exciting to be naked in front of everyone especially the girls. My girl friend's younger brother was at the camp so she saw me completely naked and so did her mother and older sister.
It was quite a ceremony and when we got home, my girlfriend, her sister and girls we know who had been there all told us how much they enjoyed the ceremony and that we most certainty were men.
The whole ceremony was both exciting and embarrassing knowing that family and friends had seen us naked.

In some places boys are still made to swim naked in front of girls.
