In reply to: Sarah 's message, "Operation Tuli (public circumcisions in the Philippines)" on 10:55:08 11/03/19 Sun

This is one instance where I side with mad John about the cruel and painful treatment of boys, which is unnecessary in my opinion and just tradition.
The only reason they give for it is a coming of age tradition when the boys are about 10 years old.
What is even more shocking is that the government endorses and encourages such a tradition by supplying the medical staff to do such mass operations.
I doubt if the boys are even given anaesthetic for this cruel operation since most of them are crying during the operation.
I think this only happens in the Philippines and in a few African tribal countries, also in some Muslim countries although usually only family members are present to watch.

Not only are the girls of all ages allowed to watch but they also take pictures and videos and upload them on youtube where one can find many such videos of these Philippines public circumcisions and also of Muslim boys of same age in other countries.
