Subject: "Announcing Myself" Author: DrDad [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 13:17:44 02/26/12 Sun In order to register on the proboard site, I must announce myself here so: I am a 31y/o scientist (wife a few months older) with a very active family of 8 children; a girl 2 y/o, and 7 boys ages 4, 5, 7, 9 (twins), 10 and 11 (in 6 weeks). We believe in spanking (with love, of course) but also use other punishments such as loss of privilieges, grounding, etc. We certainly try to be fair and use spanking as a "reminder" to not repeat certain bad choices or children may gave made. (We do not spank the 2, 4 and 5 y/os; and only began spanking the 7 y/o when he was about 6). We spank with our hands, not always on the underwear, depending on the issue. The pre-spanking talk consists of looking at what alternative choices might have been made that wouldn't result in spanking. Our children are very smart but when we need to be firm we feel it our duty as parents to do that. Most of the children repond very well to the spankings when needed, though there have been some issues with the 9 and 10 y/os not recting to them of late. Our 11 y/o is very emotionally sensitive and we try to avoid spanking with him if possible, but do use it occasionally. We also hope not to be spanking when they reach puberty. Need I add more? Dr. Dylan may challenge you for your title. LOL You seem to be a scientist and he is a self-proclaimed despankologist and so I think it will be OK. You have a house full! We do too but usually not that many. There are four boys who live there: Almost 16, 15, 14 and 5 months. My cousin (13) and my brother's good friend (14) stay with us a lot too. We also have a few other friends who land at our house on occasion. We have has as many as nine boys hanging out at one time. Mom and Dad do not care. They know how to keep us in line. As I wrote to PJ, it's all God's plan... I am a scientist; a biochemist with a consulting business that provides pretty well for us, thank God. Learning and study are pretty serious issues in our house, but it is what brings us joy, too. I leave tonight for Chicago (we live in New England), and will be back Friday afternoon.
