Fred,,,we hear what you are saying and value your "opinion". Here's the deal,,some of us (ME) have had unbelievable pain or things go wrong with shots as kids due to the negligence or lack of caring of the "giver".You may not have had this happen to affect you for the rest of your life. When i cut my fingers on my left hand a few years back,,I had to go to the hospital to have them sewn up and put back together. Anyways,,this doctor and some "intern" came into my room and explained that they were going to do a "nerve-block" on my left arm,,and explained the needle,,and where it was going. I said Hell no,,and that they weren't going to do that. They left the room,,came back with the stuff,,I made the statement with authority that I did not want that done. They came at me,,and the doctor said''This will be over before you know it". I took BOTH of my legs,,and shoved his A** OUT THE DOOR. I maid my point,,and was wheeled to the other building where the hand surgeons were,,told them what had happened,,they agreed that that was uncalled for in a professionall setting for them to come at me like that,,and anyways,,there was moderate tendon and ligament damage that "They" needed to take care of versus the hospital emergency room. I told them I was an electronics technician,,used BOTH of my hands,,Hated needles,,and so forth. He said,,we will only stick you once,,and with a very small needle,,nothing like the other one,,LOL,,put you out for about 20 minutes and that's all it will take to fix this.He said the way they were going to sew me up probably would have resulted in obstructed use of 3 fingers on my left hand.I let them start an IV,,no big problem there,,,and an hour later I was getting ready to go back home. That's my story from 1998. I still hate needles,,,and always will.
