I think it's fair to say that every doctor or nurse has their own method of giving injections. Some of the medicine is quite thick and won't even go through a 23 gauge needle. Therefore, a wider needle would be needed. Also, it's a diverse Country and I am sure that every kind of needle is used. They wouldn't even make 18 gauge needles if they weren't meant to be used. Regardless of the guidelines, doctors and nurses will do what they find works for them.

What I hate here is the fabricated stories of doctors allowing layman to administer injections just because they are friends with the patient or claim they are a nurse, etc. Also, the made up stories of people whipping out injections because someone drinks and happens to feel sick. That is obviously not the norm.

I do not believe that most people would simply take an injection just because they feel sick, etc.

I actually work for a doctor who contracts at certain resort hotels where I stay the weekend in a hotel and when guests who have partied to much can call the front desk and then I am sent to their room where I can give them zofram or if needed do IV hydration. Tonight I expect I will be very busy. I
