It is easier to have a patient do this if he is standing and bent over and keeps his weight on his feet. You can inform a lying patient to do this as well. Whether a child will do so though is something of a coin flip. On the other hand a child ling on his stomach is going to be able move as easily particularly if a hand is placed firmly on the back.
