I have moved and started a new job and needed to have a physical prior to starting. I do not start for another two weeks. Not knowing any doctors down here I asked my mom whom I live with who her doctor was and I did give his office a call and they told me I could come in. They told me he is semi retired now and only see a few patients and only two mornings a week. They asked me if I could in early in the morning. I told the nurse that would be fine since I am up early anyway. His office is attached to his house now and his wife works has his nurse, she told me this while on the phone with her. His wife knows my mom well so I think that is why he agreed to see him. I went yesterday morning at 6:30am, that is really early for a doctor to start but he just sees patients till 11am. When I got there I had papers to fill in and a questionnaire on my past history, was glad my mom came with me I did not know many of the questions. Went in to the exam room which was small, and she had me get undressed to my briefs. She took my temp and B/P. When it came time for my weight and height she had take my briefs off, I haven't had to do that in years but did as I was told. The doctor came in while I was on the scale and introduced himself to me. The door was open and I could see my mom sitting there and I knew she was getting a full view of me also. Walk back to the exam table and he gave me my exam and it was a full exam head to toe. He told me I needed a few shots, I told him I hated needles and he said it will not hurt they will be given in my rear end. Well they did hurt and by the last one I was actually crying like a kid. I got 5 shots and all in my rear end. My rear end did sting all day long and even hurt to sit. Today still hurts somewhat and I noticed I have a few black and blue marks, not too big. I have to go back Tuesday morning for a follow up, I just hope I get no more needles.

I do not know why they always tell you that the needles will not hurt. There is no shame in crying at all. How old are you? How did you feel with your mom seeing you naked? The marks will go away. Hi Tom, I do feel bad for you. I had the similar thing happen to me about 2 weeks ago. I am 54 years old, and I ended up crying like a baby after my shots. My butt was sore for a few days after it was hard for me to sit. When I walked out of the exam room there was a couple sitting there and I sure they heard me crying and screaming and I still was crying when I walk out.

I went with my husband yesterday for his physical he, is 66. He ended up getting 5 shots as well in his rear end and by time the last one was going in he also was crying very hard. I think he got embarrassed for crying so hard. I drove home and he cried all the way home. It was late afternoon and I had take a nice warm bath and put his pajamas on, he had a light dinner and went right to bed so he could lay on his tummy. His rear end is still sore today, so he will be in bed early again. I hope your rear end is feeling better today for you.

The only time an injection made me cry was in anticipation of the embarrassment when my doctor's beautiful teenaged daughter was acting receptionist during the school holidays. She was only slightly older than I and I desperately craved her respect so I didn't want her even to know that I got shots in my bottom, much less endure the humiliation of bending over her lap for her to watch me get one back there.
