In reply to: Knut Holt 's message, "Injection for tubercolosis vaccination" on Wednesday, March 08, 2017, 08:14: am

I think I was 6 years old, and I was taken to the dentist because one of my milk teeth was corrupted by caries.

The dentist decided he had to pull it out. He fetched a syringe , pushed the needle in near the root of my tooh, and injected the dose.

The sting was horribly painful and I got angry, but did react before the dentis had done its job.

But after having rised from the dentis chair, I shouted to the dentist: "I shall sting you with a needle wich is full of bacteria!!!" I knew already at that age that bacteria could be harmful.

My father that had taken me to the dentist thought my utterance was funny, he told later at home.

The dentis pretended he thought it was funny to.

But my father could tell at home afterwards that the dentis seemed to be grossly offended, though, which my father found funny, and which made me happy.

In Scandinavia when I grow up, there was a hypothesis that a depot-injection of B-vitamins could help against chronic tension, anxiety and other nervous symptoms.

My father was plagued by nervous symptoms of the kind, especially anxiety. He used to go to the pharmacy and buy ampulles with a B-vitamin product to be injected itramuscularly.

He then went to the family doctor and let him set the injections in his butt.

At one time I went with him, I do not remember why, but I think he followed me to some shops at the same route.

He lowered his throusers and underwear and stood upringt. The doctor filled the syringe and set the injection in one of his butt cheecks.

Then he pull up the clotes again.

I was not very interested in the affair, but regarded it as nothing more than a practical event to take place before we went further.

But this practice of using B-vitamin-injection is perhaps interesting as a theoretical subject.

When I was in the first grade a classmate used to follow me on the road back home after the school day. The boy had to visit hospital for frequent treatment of something he said was apendicitis.

He told a lot about what he saw at the hospital, but very little or vague what they did with him.

I do not think he had apendicitis, but rather that he had urological exams under anesthesia and new little himself about what they did to him. He one time said they did something to make it easier for him to pee. But he often saw what they did to other kids. One of his accounts was this:

They had a kid laying at his side with bare back. Then they took a huge syringe, stuck the long neeedle into his lower back, pointed it upwards and inserted it far up inside his back.

I think what he saw was the taking of a spinal fluid specimen from another kid.

It is also possible that the kid got epidural or spinal anesthesia before an urological procedure.
