 The decision struck down a lower court's ruling in widow Mary Miller's favor that awarded her a little more than $900,000 in damages.

It appears she was ill-advised as the publisher owns the copyrights and not the writer. When the songs came up for renewal Sony/ATV renewed them. The lower court was not in tune with the copyright laws. The publisher pays the songwriter which translated into she still gets money. Maybe she wanted the whole enchilada?
