Subject: I'm a teacher.. I have been providing a lot of online materials, videos etc for free... however...
In reply to: Mary 's message, "Just wondering how much teachers are charging for online video classes" on 05:37:49 03/22/20 Sun

Please understand that I have rental agreements and am looking at paying rent on studios that I will never enter in the next few months.

I truly care about my dancers, and will do as much as I can to keep them and their families healthy and busy during these shutdowns... but making videos and planning online classes takes a lot of time and energy... MORE TIME than just teaching regular classes... because this is not how we are use to doing it.

I will provide free material as long as possible, but I may not be able to do that forever. Right now, if I provide "live" on-line classes, I will charge a reduced fee for that.

I think it is lovely if teachers can provide on-line learning for no charge... but unless your teacher has another source of income (that is still coming in during these shutdowns) they may not be able to do that.

I'm sort of surprised to see some people making negative comments about teachers who are charging for what they are doing. Running a dance school is a business you know... it isn't a charity.

  • I hope none of you mams are silly enough to be paying for these classes when most dance schools are doing it for free (NT) -- Mam, 16:32:45 03/29/20 Sun
