Small town is a only relatively thing :-)
Berlin has just 3.5 million residents. As far as I know the biggest city in Europe is London. It has 7 million.
The much big city is Mexico City, it has 16 million residents.
So Berlin is a small town. Mostly the people in Germany live in the countryside.
