Yes, the ID # means nothing - for several reasons. Having said that, it is surprising how high the percentage is of early commits who don't change. Unfortunately many players commit to a program where they will ride the bench for four years. Obviously there is no way for most freshmen/sophs - or coaches - to judge how good they will be three or four years later.
