Precisely! The accuracy of input, responses, etc. here mimics the accuracy of FOX News and MSNBC.....delete the 50% or so spin and wishful thinking and you are left with facts....hopefully. That said, go 'gate!

Other than hockey, lax, and FCS fb, what teams are ever capable of competing at a "national" level? Don't get me wrong, that good enough for me. Hockey and lax could compete with nationally ranked teams last year (6 wins and a tie against ranked teams between them).

I think this is a good post/question. I'll take a crack at it, If I leave some sports I apologize.
If we are talking "national" level only (NCAA) here we go.
FB-NO Shot (I aught to get an ear full from the faithful that are still living in the glory years.)
WSOC-Slight Chance (losing their top asst. will hurt)
MSOC-Slight Chance (think this program is on the upswing though)
VB-Good Chance-depends on recruiting I guess, program always seems to be knocking on the door, which is a good thing.
FH- NO Shot (deck is stacked against them)
TEN-See FH
WBB-NO Way, NO How, NO Shot
MBB- NO shot-Be lucky to win 10 games (we'll see how that contract extension & most likelya big raise goes over when they struggle, and I am pro-Langel fan.)
MIH-Good chance (solid team and ECAC is always a dogfight, they will be just fine.)
WIH-Program is improving, will get in the ECAC play-off's this year, but still a long way to go.
MLAX- Very good chance-One of a few programs that has a legitimate shot at competing nationally (hard to play with the big boys all the time when the same level of support isn't there though.)
WLAX-Throw WLAX into same boat as men, but they probably have more support (Title IX)
SB-Slight chance-Not sure if they can breakthrough this year.
T&F/Rowing/XC-Sorry, no discussion needed.
Just an opinion, hope some teams step and surprise this year.

FB will surprise on the upside and MLAX will surprise on the downside.

Puckman is forgiven! Though I do think we'll be a little better than your forecast. I'd be disappointed if we weren't top 4 in the ECAC, and would think we'll be nationally ranked most of the year.
Also hoping football has a run, but the first few games are a gauntlet. Maybe if we keep the injuries to a dull roar...
Am also required to mention our rugby team, which is competing at a 1-AA level and was nationally ranked in 7's during the spring. Though not technically a varsity sport they are a program on a serious rise!

Injuries or lack of will be key vs last year's critical losses.

It reaches an almost comedic level that we are only talking about 1 may be 2 sports that potentially reach NCAA's this year. Is this the apex for a school like Colgate? It would be a shame if that were the case, but winning is winning. Maybe the new president will place a greater importance on that type of success once they are settled in and can get a clear idea of what is going on. AD's are paid to generate revenue and hire/retain good coaches, curious what the perception is. Once the importance of winning is clearly outlined, maybe steps will be put into place to get a better idea on what the next steps are.
