Why would UCONN make the long, dreary 5-hr trip to little Hamilton, NY at T'giving to play a game that will be a mismatch? It can't be about money, can it? Syracuse refuses to schedule them, so they settle on Colgate? Why not stay home and try to schedule a real Div-I opponent? Breanna Stewart's hometown is Syracuse, not Hamilton.

It certainly is not about money, since UConn has an average home attendance of over 10,000 at high ticket prices. Having another home game would obviously produce far more revenue for them. But since the whole objective is a homecoming game for Stewart, how would staying home help them? Hamilton is the nearest D1 school to Syracuse, other than Syracuse who is afraid to play them, plus he knows Nicci - so it was a natural.

UConn, btw, normally plays the toughest ooc schedule in the nation - so it certainly isn't that they are seeking out an easy win. Their 2015-16 ooc schedule currently includes four of the top seven teams in the country and seven who will likely be in the Top 25.

UCONN coming to Colgate is nothing but a good thing for Colgate women's basketball. If you play sports you want to take your shot at the best. Doing it in front of the biggest home crowd in your sport's history is a bonus. Colgate will play their hearts out. Odds are that the game won't end in Colgate's favor, but if you're an athlete all you want is the opportunity to shock the world. Once-in-a-lifetime is exactly that. Roll the dice. Take a big swing. Hit 20 3 pointers in a row. Why not? Or, turn off Hoosiers when it starts and say there is no way this little school in the middle of nowhere could win something so big.

Nothing wrong with optimism. But the team in Hoosiers had a MUCH MUCH MUCH better chance to win than Colgate will have. One problem is that making 20 3-pointers in a row vs UConn's defense is impossible since they will have big ultra-athletic guards stifling the 3-point attempts and blocking many of them if CU hits a few early. Another problem is that if Colgate hangs around for the first few minutes then UConn will go to a full-court press that CU will have major problems with. UConn is much bigger, much faster, and much more athletic.

Hopefully the kids will enjoy the experience, but their chance of winning is less than .0000001%. Likely margin will be about 65 since Geno won't press once they get a big lead.

You have the best team in college sports coming to Hamilton. There is no way Colgate can lose and I'm not talking about the score. If you play a sport, this is everything you want--the chance to match up against the best. To play against the team that wins the national championship, the WNBA MVP, the girl who makes the shot to win the gold medal at the Olympics. It's much bigger than what the final score is. It's about having an interesting life (as I post on a fan forum on a lovely Saturday afternoon...).

Agree on all counts. Just don't think there is even a very remote chance of seeing the biggest upset in the history of sports. A loss by less than 60 points would be a win.

And, gate WBB needsall the systematic building/nurturing of its individual/collective self-esteem that it can get!

1. The media attention of UCONN WBB playing in sleepy Cotterell is potentially a good thing!

2. Celebrating Breanna's return to Central New York can be an honorable thing!

3. 'Gate WBB getting blown out not such a good thing for these girls!

4. I'd love to have the rights to the movie if Gate pulls the upset of the century. ....not going to happen...I don't think even Nicci is going to sell that trick to the Slater Bros or the Hamilton Theatre ! But, Future, why don't you line up the movie financing deal just in case!
