Re: 6 of the 7 PL teams are also recruiting better talent! -- The Future, 08/ 8/15 5:19:52pm Sat
Completely agree on rest of the league getting better.
I'm not saying that Colgate is going to be blowing out Patriot League teams but it will be significantly closing the gap on the CAA, MAC, AAC.
Bucknell got a QB with an offer from Miami. Lehigh got a RB who rushed for more yards than anybody in 50 years. The whole league improving will help set it apart from other leagues and help schools compete for a level of talent not seen in a long time. A few years from now an 8-3 season for Colgate will mean an at large invite to the playoffs (as opposed to a 10-1 Lehigh getting left at home a few years ago).

PL fb Gap narrowing with Fordham significant development to watch -- Bigger Picture, 08/ 8/15 6:51:19pm Sat
Are PL teams going to go through the 'Uptick' in performance like Fordham did in its 3rd and 4th year of fb schollies ? Or is Fordham in ACT II with greater license than the other PL administrations are willing to provide. And they have NYC as their audience !!
As we know, even tho Fordham has the burden of the A.I., they are the least selective school in PL fb, have used the transfer route extensively
( which other PL teams won't ) and brought in a very good new coach
( who's also an alum, which tends to garner Trustee and admin backing. )
Fordham is already scheduling up ( in 2018-9 and beyond ? ) in the FBS beyond the East Coast... beyond the Army's, Navy's and B.C's now populating the other PL schedules, just like the Rams did in Act I.
Fordham's Record plus Sagarin Ratings (Basic Rating/ Predictor):
2010: 5-6 / 44.7 / 40.9
2011: 1-10 / 31.7 / 30.1
2012: 6-5 / 43.0 / 44.1
2013: 12-2 / 56.5 / 54.5
2014: 11-3 / 60.3 / 59.0
2014: Other PL scholarship schools = 44.0+

Good post, re FU. Having thumbed their nose at the no-scholarship rule, should we have confindence in their compliance with the AI?

Well said. Coaches aside, the biggest edge is upperclass schollie players. Rams have 2 again and PL has 1 . Gap will narrow quite a bit this year with the massive senior losses for FU. Narrow not disappear. Rams have a tough OOC which will season them for PL schedule. Without Nebrich, they must relg on a new QB,another FBS transfer. A lot depends on how we fill our holes. Gonna be a horse race this year.

Since the academic record of every recruit has to be submitted to the PL, I have confidence they will comply with the AI. However, as already pointed out, they have a lower AI to work with. Also transfers who have been at their prior school for 1.5+ years do not have to meet the normal AI - just a transfer AI that is a much lower bar. These two items clearly give FU an advantage.

Don't overlook the variable of Coaching and Stewarding the Program -- Raider Archivist, 08/ 9/15 3:22:40pm Sun
Though more subtle to analyze by "lay folk," like us, it may be what distinguishes the top dogs from the rest of the pack.
This doesn't diminish the significance of recruiting success. Exceptional athletes are significant. But, they're just part of the equation.
Was Biddle winning the recruiting game, the coaching game or both ?
Same can be asked about Fordham's Joe Morehead ? Conversely, this year, we already have additional hints about H.C.'s ability to attract the calibre of payers now going to other PL schools. Does Tom G's coaching and the program stewardship provide them with any on-field uptick ?
AD Nate Pine has upticked morale temporarily. God for bid Pujals gets injured, H.C. will become fully exposed and possibly fully unglued.
