I have sat within the darkness,
Have watched the sun go down,
Have felt the terror deep within,
Have thought that I would drown.

The night, it comes on quickly,
When a heart is locked up tight,
And demons are the only friends,
To see one through the night.

I have cried so many teardrops,
Have silenced many screams,
Have trembled in my loneliness,
Have lost hold of all my dreams,

The stars, they simply will not do,
Just a vague and distant dot,
Twinkling madly in the sky,
While flesh is left to rot.

I have prayed so, for a savior,
Have shivered in the breeze,
Have whispered for forgiveness,
Have got down on my knees.

Then off on the horizon,
A full moon began to rise,
Reflecting all the loving light,
I've seen within your eyes.
