Hi Bobby,

This weekend, I was listening to the first two CDs of your former band, and while I was nearly wiping the tears from my face (both because your shit tears me up, AND because I still wish that the breakup never had happend), I noticed that on Parking Karma your guitar sounds a bit muted compared with Bad Hair Day. Was this on purpose, or due to an improvement in technologies? Also, it sounds like you were able to "go to town" a bit more on BHD, as you sounded a bit more reserved on PK. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Hmm....I guess music and politics don't mix anymore on this webpage. Is this site run by FOX news now? Oh well, vote for the one who voluntered, fought and had the guts to speak up about the horrors. Maybe if the people making the decisions understood what REALLY happens in war to our soldiers and civilians, they would not have committed our troops to this living hell!! Nice job Mr. President, enjoy your last days of playing GOD. There is a ranch in Texas waiting for you and an even hotter place below. Peace

Howdy from Texas! Only here 83 more days! From here I'll be moving on to Ft. Bragg, NC, Womack Army Medical Center, for my Phase 2 training.

I'm kind of excited, kind of scared. They run like 7 miles for PT there. The 3.3 we do here is already enough to kill me!! But it's a great Army hospital, lots of trauma, plenty of experience.

Have to be back in class now. Ciao!!

Rodney Dangerfield... He had a million of 'em

"I tell ya I get no respect from anyone. I bought a cemetery plot. The guy said, "There goes the neighborhood!"

"Last week I told my psychiatrist, 'I keep thinking about suicide.' He told me to pay in advance."

"One time my whole family played hide and seek. They found my mother in Pittsburgh."

"Oh, last week was a rough week. I noticed my gums were shrinking. I was brushing my teeth with Preparation H."

"Oh, when I was a kid I was poor. We were so poor, when my father died, they asked my mother, 'Paper or plastic?' "

"My uncle's dying wish, he wanted me on his lap. He was in the electric chair."

"I tell ya, my wife likes to talk during sex. Last night, she called me from a motel."

"I could tell that my parents hated me. My bath toys were a toaster and a radio."

"I remember I was so depressed I was going to jump out a window on the tenth floor, so they sent a priest to talk to me. He said, "On your mark. . ."

"My wife made me join a bridge club. I jump off next Tuesday."

"I come from a stupid family. During the Civil War my great uncle fought for the West."

"I told my doctor I think my wife has VD. He gave himself a shot of penicillin."

"I was such an ugly baby. My mother never breast fed me. She told me that she only liked me as a friend."

"I drink too much. The last time I gave a urine sample it had an olive in it."

Aw hell... Got an 89% on my test yesterday. I don't think it helped that I had a 102-degree fever yesterday and spent the whole morning in sick call with an IV in my arm. I made some stupid mistakes, and a few I could have figured out if my mental capacity (limited as it is) was all there. Oh well, still #2, but now 4.29 points (less than 1%) behind Humphrey. I know, Dad, if I let a guy named Humphrey beat me out, I can't come home. Would it help if I told you he has a BS in Life Sciences so he has a definite advantage over me? Not that I care, I will still beat him out in the end. I still have 117 days to make mincemeat out of that mouse...

Nothing else is new or exciting. I have to be in class in 2 minutes so I have to go. Talk to you all soon!!

Love,
Spuds

Hola all!

Not much is new. I have dropped to #2 in my class. I have 458.35 total points (93.4%) and SPC Humphrey has 459.64 total points (93.6%). We have another test tomorrow, and I'm pretty sure I'll do well. It's all basic Physics; I can't imagine what could throw me off... it's all review from jr. year in HS. We also have some homework and a quiz that haven't been calculated into our grades yet. I'm positive I got all 19 questions on the quiz correct. Humphrey isn't so sure... let's hope he missed 1.3... though that would be hard since each question is worth 1 point!

Miss you all! I'll be home Columbus Day weekend!

Love,
Me

Hi all... just wanted to give whoever cares an update on how things are going...

I had a really hard test on Monday, only got an 81.1% on it. My average is down to a 93.36% but I'm still #1 in the class. The next test is supposedly harder but I think it'll be a lot easier. I have a lot of bones and bone parts to memorize. We'll be tested on the hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, humerus, and shoulder girdle next Thursday, along with a bunch of other technical stuff.

This Friday I have a practical exam on positioning on the hand, wrist, forearm, and elbow. We won't actually make any exposures, but we have to get everything right. It doesn't seem that hard. We'll be practicing in the lab this afternoon. Yesterday we practiced positioning of the hand and it was very easy.

Other than that, PT is getting better. I've lost a little bit of weight and I've noticed my arms and legs are a slight bit more muscular. The food in the mess hall sucks so I eat pretty healthy, cause the unhealthy stuff tastes like crap too.

Oops!!!! I have to get back to class.

Love you all!!

Spuds

Miss the old days Bobby - you provided (and still provide) me with countless nights of good vibes. Your musicianship is a religion to me.

So lets dream a little......is there any chance in HELL that if they asked you back on-stage, you ever consider it?

Hey Bob!
My (soon to be) 8 year old niece is asking for a guitar for her birthday (and me being the cool aunt, am getting her one!!) - I have been doing some research, but the dilemma is: Acoustic or Classical?? I'm leaning toward acoustic because of the slimmer neck, and size - but I also thought the strings on the classical might be easier for litle fingers?? Which is easier to learn on??

Got any advice for me??
Thanks, Sharri xoxo

The Most Functional Word
Well, it's shit...that's right, shit!
Shit may just be the most functional word in the English language.
Consider:
You can get shit-faced, be shit out of luck, or have shit for brains. With a little effort, you can get your shit together, find a place for your shit, or be asked to shit or get off the pot.
You can smoke shit, buy shit, sell shit, lose shit, find shit, forget shit and tell others to eat shit.
Some people know their shit, while others can't tell the difference between Shit and Shinola.
There are lucky shits, dumb shits and crazy shits.
There is bull shit, horse shit and chicken shit.
You can throw shit; sling shit, catch shit, shoot the shit or duck when the shit hits the fan.
You can give a shit or serve shit on a shingle.
You can find yourself in deep shit or be happier than a pig in shit.
Some days are colder than shit; some days are hotter than shit and some days are just plain shitty.
Some music sounds like shit, things can look like shit and there are times when you feel like shit.
You can have too much shit, not enough shit, the right shit, the wrong shit or a lot of weird shit.
You can carry shit, have a mountain of shit or find yourself up shit creek without a paddle.
Sometimes everything you touch turns to shit and other times you fall in a bucket of shit and come out smelling like a rose.
When you stop to consider all the facts, it's the basic building block of the English language.
And remember, once you know your shit, you don't need to know anything else!
You could pass this along, if you give a shit or not do so, If you don't give a shit.
Well Shit, it's time for me to go. Just wanted you to know that I do Give A Shit and hope you had a nice day, without a bunch of shit. But if you happened to catch a load of shit from some shit head----
----shit happens.

Subject: 'Twas the night before Christmas...

Author:
...Georges
[Edit]

Date Posted: 17:22:01 12/24/03 Wed

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
while visions of sugar plums danced in their heads.
And Mama in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
had just settled our brains for a long winter's nap.

When out on the roof there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
tore open the shutter, and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
gave the lustre of midday to objects below,
when, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
but a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles, his courses they came,
and he whistled and shouted and called them by name:

"Now Dasher! Now Dancer!
Now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid!
On, Donner and Blitzen!

To the top of the porch!
To the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away!
Dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
when they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky
so up to the house-top the courses they flew,
with the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
the prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head and was turning around,
down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
and his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
and he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

His eyes--how they twinkled! His dimples, how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
and the beard on his chin was as white as the snow.
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
and the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
that shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly.

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
and I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself.
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
and filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
and giving a nod, up the chimney he rose.

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, 'ere he drove out of sight,

“MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL…

HELLO BOBBY
FOR A FIRST IN OVER A YEAR I POPPED PARKING KARMA IN THE CHANGER AND GROOVED OUT. THAT CD SURE STANDS THE TEST OF TIME, WAY OFF THE HEEZEE. I WAS AT A SHOW RECENTLY WHERE YOUR OLD COMPADRES PLAYED COTTON FIELDS BUT IT HAD LOST ALL OF THE SNAP FROM THE CD.
MY QUESTION IS THIS: WILL YOU BE DOING ANY COUNTRY TYPE STUFF WITH TAKEABITE SIMILAR TO WHAT YOU WERE DOING WITH OLD MR BLOTTO? IF YOU DO I'LL BET YOU FIND YOURSELF RIGHT BACK AT THE TOP OF THE PYRAMID!
KEEP UP THE JAMS!

Hey Jamin’ Sam (and others)

Thanks for the sentiment and those kind words, but you’re message regarding Mark Hague and myself was a bit off base… In fact, way off base… it also made me feel uncomfortable enough to have it deleted… Sorry…

I received an email from a friend (and musician)  who wanted to share the news of Mark’s good fortune… I was gonna post it, but other emails, gossip and propaganda I’ve received in addition to your message prompted me to post a few comments of my own… In any case, this friend sets things right…

The word I get (and extremely reliable that word is)  is that it was Perry Barlow who hooked this whole thing up for Mark, after seeing Mark play at Griffin’s with Hack & Wheeze a while back… It was Mark’s talent and friendship with John Perry that got him up on that stage, not Blotto’s ‘connections’, ergo I must admit that your supposition concerning my association would also be in error… On the surface common sense tells me and it should tell you that there is no Blotto connection to Weir or the Dead and that Paul is not all ’tight’ with Barlow… if it were otherwise Paul would’ve been invited to sing and Weir would’ve been kinda obligated to help his ‘brothers’ out with a courtesy appearance at the Blotto gig… and neither of these events happened to my knowledge… While down the road Blotto may be able to share in a bit of the prestige and capitalize on Mark’s good fortune, my sources and common sense convince me that they were ‘out of the loop’ concerning events leading up to Mark’s inclusion in Rat Dog…

Perhaps we need to put this all in perspective… If one were to ask Mark about it, I’m sure he would say, "It was way cool", which is exactly what it was… and if a great job comes his way as a result, that would be awesome… In any case, let us allow for Mark’s ‘day in the sun’… His getting up on that stage with one of rock’s icons is personally gratifying for me for several reasons…   but for the present, Mark Hague is the coolest kid on the block…

Mike...I think I have your jacket. Navy blue, Sears work type...house keys in pocket with a quick release buckle. Hopefully you have Jack's cousin Greg's jacket as well. I called Sal at Griffins the night of the switch with my name and number or you can email me or get a hold of Jack. I'll be at Griffins again for the next Speargrass gig...but can arrange something to exchange garments before that.

Bobby is back to a full weekend schedule an that’s good. That full schedule is way South and for me that’s bad. How about bringing some of those weekends up North, Bobby!

Great mellow show on saturday nite. S & G were amazing! E xcept for slowing down 'I am a rock' and Singing different verses of 'Mrs. Robinson' at the same time, all was excellent. Played all the hits and some songs I forgot about like 'Leaves that are Green', and 'at the Zoo'. 'The Sound of Silence' sent chills up and down my spine. Artie got a standing O for 'Bridge over troubled water'. Paul Simon is not to shabby of a guitar player, I was very impressed. The sound was great for the UC, of course front row club level on the side of the stage probably helped a lot. The Everly brothers came out in mid-set and played 4 songs and sounded great. A great way to feel young, even at my old age of 38, is to go to shows where the average age has got to be pushing 60. This concert was well worth the money, besides they may never play together again let alone speak to each other after the tour is over. Paul Simon said
they have been arguing or fighting since they were 14. Peace...UFO Freak

Saw Jeff Beck 3 weeks ago at Arie Crown... He blew the roof off the joint.Played lots of 70's solo stuff ( love is green, Pork pie hat, scatterbrain, etc...)He actually showed up and his band was amazing!! Of course he didn't say a word till the show was pratically over, but his guitar was speaking just fine. I must be gettin old because his guitar was so friggin loud I had to put in earplugs. Of course my hearing hasn't been the same since I saw Black Sabbath, or was it Deep Purple, Maybe UFO ? I just can't seem to recall anything before 1981....Peace
