Subject: How fortunate she survived to share how the attack impacted her. This was not the State Miss referred to in the original post suggesting the experience of surviving a rape may happen more frequently than many of us considered. So today with the #metoo movement gaining voice nationally - is it reasonable for a contestant to include this issue in her bio without fear that sharing the significance of the attack would not disqualify her to be Miss America in the judges eyes?

In reply to: 's message, "Miss Arizona 2006, Hillary Griffith, was a rape victim, and at knifepoint no less, and this was her platform at state and Miss America. So, it has been discussed in national interview." on 22:31:30 03/26/18 Mon

No, that's not reasonable which is unfortunate. Regardless of how well-intentioned the contestant may be, and regardless of how supportive the social climate may be, you cannot control whether a judge will have an adverse reaction to that fact. I always say: you NEVER truly know your judges! It is unfortunate that it has to be that way, but unless you think you can live with every possible consequence of disclosing that information, do yourself a favor and don't disclose it.
