Subject: In the 50's, we were only second to Hong Kong in terms of economic progress but now, we are second to the last if not the last. Politics have become so corrupt beyond words. It used to be lawyers and intellectuals in politics but now, actors, actresses, show biz folks and the like. Laughable, isn't it? We need to change our attitude but in the end, the people are themselves to blame for this predicament. WAKE UP AND VOTE THE RIGHT ONES AND NOT THE ONES THAT GAVE YOU THE ENVELOPS!!! Remember... "give me a fish and I will eat for a day but show me how to fish and I will eat forever. We seem satisfied to have our youth to work as maid or street sweepers. This is one of the mechanisms to control the minds of the Filipino people. As long as majority of the Filipino voters will remain half-educated, illiterate & arrogant fanatics, corrupt Filipino politicians will continue to control the three branches of the government.

  • Filipinos need to take a long and hard look at who they are choosing to lead them for the next three to six years. We have been electing celebrities, entertainers, and relatives of past and present politicians who are totally unfit for public service. Filipinos start to send a clear message to the ballot box and prevent unqualified candidates from ever holding public office. OFW’s it’s your move, tell the folks back home to vote wisely. Filipinos would rather sell their votes just to put food on the table. This has been practiced ever since I was back home. I saw leaders distributing P5.00 pesos before election day in barrio Las-ud way back in the late 50’s. Well if we keep doing it there is a saying that "There are no tyrants where there are no slaves". (NT) -- Paul L. Villanueva Sr., Tue, May 07 2013
